Owning my own business

Thanks for the post from Sylvester Campbell

Who would have thought I’d be at this point when I was 25? I have my own sports training facility and I’ve been really excited about finally getting things off the ground and taking in new clients. I think it’s important to note that when I was in high school I didn’t have any interest in sports at all – now here I am working on becoming a great member of this community by working with kids in the area to become better athletes? I love having the ability to make all the decisions for my little business, from the t1 internet to the type of marketing I do to the T-shirts I wear. I just love being the boss as a whole and I can imagine what it would be like if I was still trapped in a cubicle all day like I was before. I knew I had to get out there and I’m really thankful this is the I decided to go down. Who would’ve imagined I’d be a small business owner?

lessen the worries

A friend was telling me she plan on getting North Carolina health insurance for her younger siblings. I couldn’t share much as I have little knowledge on health insurances. I am so grateful that our jobs provide us the health insurance for me, husband and the kids. Or I’d be clueless. But if the company where one works do not provide such, I believe that health insurance is a “good investment” that one should get one even if one has to pay on their own. It takes away the stress from financial worries when one gets sick.

preserve your wealth.

Collecting gold coins is my father’s thing. So whenever I want to get more information about it, I’m pretty sure my dad will be excited to answer any question that concerns coin collecting. He often shows off his collection every time he has new addition to it. He even buys special coin “pockets” making sure they are kept in their mint condition. He was happy when I told him that he can now order coins online. I knew this has been his main choice of investment, well, aside from real estate. Gold coins, over the years, are proved to preserve one’s wealth.

invest on gold bars

While double checking our budget plan if we are still on track, husband asked if we can afford to buy a new car (of course, we have to sell current car first to use as down payment) next year even if he sort of expects what my response would be. He knows how much I want an automatic but this is just not the time to give in to “wants”. Our car is still working fine.

I smiled reminding him that we are still trying to save more to invest on gold bars. We have researched and decided that we will buy them from United States Gold Bureau for their reputation.

If there’s anything we can adjust at the budget plan, we’ll invest it instead of “letting go” aka buy something that doesn’t earn or appreciate over the years. He smiled. He knows. :)

what’s up?

I’ve been bugging the husband to decide whether we should buy gold bullion now or wait after we set up a small business first (whatever we earn from that, we can continue investing on gold). With gold, all we have to do is wait, since it’s a long term investment. Same concept if we invest in stocks like Meralco or Maynilad, we are helping/supporting the country while investing without intention of pulling out the stocks in 10-20 years.

But we believe that one should not put all eggs in one basket. Therefore, it’s wise to invest long term such as with gold and invest some with fast returns such as opening a small business that is almost like a fad, think of Zagu and rice in a box (in the late 90s) sort of business. So, let’s see, what’s up?

gold on your pages

There are tons of great digital scrap kits online. Digital kits have freed me from worrying about my patterned papers’ colors or theme not matching my photos and mood. Not to mention the digital alternative saved me much money.

I understand there are still traditional scrappers who are lovers of texture. It is always nice, they say, to touch the pages and feel different textures instead of just the glossy magazine-like feel of printed digital pages. There are those who wouldn’t think twice using some gold dust from their gold bullion and sprinkle it in their layouts, or using some gold chains. Like gold, they treat their layouts as family jewels.

But artists and designers never failed us to give us the digital option. Just like this gold alpha set.

Adorable, right?

investing in gold now

With our current income and expenses, we know we better invest now not only in real estate (as I read once that a house is not an investment but rather the lot where it is built on) but also in other forms of investments. Reading about the appreciation of gold over the years, husband and I think we better buy gold now while we are on our early stage of our marriage having only one child. We want the confidence that we can afford to send our kid/s to college even in our retiring years. After all, gold is the best investment we can rely on for the years to come.

when I retire…

I was browsing some websites on financing, and suddenly got confused between asset based lending and bank financing. As I see it, the latter is much ideal to businesses who would like to maximize their borrowing capacity using receivables and inventory as collateral. I realized I shouldn’t be worrying about this as the business I’m thinking of is just a small one. But who knows, after a year or two, it would be successful enough to reach an impressive sales volume.

Ideally, it would be something I’d enjoy but I think the target market is too few in numbers. It could end up being just a craze but like any fad, consumers would soon jump into the next big thing.

So it’s either something I love or something that’s a sure-fire cash magnet.

as seen in the movies

I’ve never seen real gold bars in my life. All I know is they are great investment products. They can be passed on from one generation to another. I was told that investing in gold is like preserving one’s wealth and purchasing power. It’s the same with jewelry collection, just bigger amounts of gold.

I remember when I was younger seeing those gold bars in the movies, mostly about discovering them in a hidden cave. I even thought as a youngster I could possibly find one in our backyard. My siblings and I use that same storyline during playtime. We imagined finding one, and buying lots of cuddly toys and stationeries. Ah, the simple joys of a child.

a good start

As you know I am currently digiscrapping our photos. And quite expectedly, I find myself in search of the perfect kit for a certain set of pictures taken in a certain event. Sometimes, it’s nice to have the perfect kit with the perfect colors and perfect elements to go along with all the ideas in your head. Hahaha.

While cyber shopping, I found a really nice wedding kit. It is simple, yet I think it matches the style that is gradually emerging from all my scrap pages. The thing is, I am not scrapping our wedding pictures. Haha.

So yes, I scrambled to check my wedding stuff to see if I can justify buying that nice kit. Good thing that it took me hours checking my gown and unity coins that the desire to shop has subside.

It was nice seeing the unity coins again. They are our very first set of gold coins given by my father for our wedding. He believes that gold is a good investment product. And in order to entice us to invest more on gold, he gave us some…. little ones. Hahaha.
