Last week, my daughter celebrated her birthday with a school party and a get-together dinner at home. That was her choice when asked earlier if she wanted a Shakey’s or KFC party. This was, we suspect, primarily because she’s afraid of clowns and mascots, which she thinks most parties have. She’d rather spend her birthday in school and at home, where (almost) everything is predictable.
Every year, we choose a theme for her school party (for the invites, cake and giveaways), and she decided she wanted a Hello Kitty party this year. I showed the invites to our friend who did Mikee’s Dora doll cake last year.
While waiting, we were asked to put the cake and cupcakes on a table with casters. And as soon as the table was wheeled inside my daughter’s classroom, Mikee’s eyes got wide to see her Hello Kitty cake.
I myself was delighted with even the smallest details on her cake. The wooden spoon, cupcakes and rolling pin, even Hello Kitty’s apron has “Chef Mikee” on it.
After her school party, we used the same cake for her candle blowing later that night at home.
