hobby: twirling

I’m not sure why but I have some ballet-themed kits. As much as I want my daughter to enroll in a ballet class, she doesn’t want to, no matter how insistent I am. Still, she twirls when she dances. And I must say, her twirl is just amazing, you’d think she studies ballet.

Here’s a photo of her when she was 2 years old.

And last week, it was their talent show in school. Initially, I thought she’ll be singing but then, I was surprised when she asked me to buy her a ballet costume. I simply told her that it’s not within our budget, and it would be a luxury to buy a costume if she isn’t going to ballet classes. So again, I asked her if she wants to attend ballet classes (then I can buy her the costume), to which she did not agree, as always.

She danced ballet at their talent show, alright. She also chose “blue danube” as the music to dance to. I wasn’t able to go to her school to watch her but I’m glad she showed me her dance so I can snap some shots. :)

Hello Kitty birthday invites

One week to go before my daughter’s birthday. Just like the past two years, we’re planning another school party for her with her classmates, and dinner after at home with relatives and friends . I have talked to our friend who will make her cake and cupcakes (the same friend who did the Dora dollcake) and agreed on the design. This week, I plan to visit the school to consult the teacher about the number of students and the preferred food.

The good news is, my daughter has a girl classmate this year. I just hope she won’t transfer to the morning class just like what happened last year. That was why Mikee ended up being the only girl in class, again. I wish this girl stays so my daughter can share her excitement on having a Hello Kitty party, even with just one girl classmate. I think most little girls like Hello Kitty, probably because she’s pink. There are girls, even women, who collect Hello Kitty stuff for their room with pink HK window blinds, bathrooms with pink HK hot tub covers, and even cars with pink HK sticker plastered across!

I am still thinking what giveaways to get the boys with Hello Kitty giveaways for the girls (yes, I’m getting for Mikee too). Ben 10? Spiderman? I’m hoping to get Doraemon so we can still stick with Japanese characters. ;)

Anyway, I was able to finish Mikee’s Hello Kitty invitation to her cupcake party. Of course, there will be food other than the cupcakes. I just think it’s cute to call it a cupcake party. I am so tempted to call it a tea party but the other moms might panic if they’ll think that tea will be served to their kids at lunchtime.

costume talk.

My daughter, just like last year, insists she wants a mermaid costume for Halloween this year. Last year, she decided early January but changed her mind sometime in August/September, just when I was about to order online. She wanted to be Jessie (from Toy Story) instead. I didn’t mind because I haven’t ordered anything yet that time.

This year, my daughter remembered she wanted a mermaid costume. I’m a bit reluctant. You see, I have decided on what to buy for our baby boy (yes, as early as now) and I’m excited to buy my daughter a matching costume. But if she’ll wear a mermaid costume, and I want them to match, I’d have to settle with a Sebastian/lobster bunting for my son, which I think isn’t such a good idea. Sigh.

You were excited to go to this party. You enjoyed watching the magic show. But after that, you simply got bored and wanted to go home.

This is just a re-scrapped version of this layout.

Yearbook page

Yesterday afternoon, I was surprised that my daughter’s journal was returned to me. The routine is the teacher gives the journal to us on Fridays, and we give it back to her on Mondays. So I called the teacher. Apparently, I missed to read a page where in parents were being reminded of the yearbook page’s deadline… And to my horror, it was yesterday, Monday.

But I couldn’t scrap a page right away because I was swamped with work. I had to finish my shift before getting started. Just imagine how stressful it was for me, trying to finish my work, knowing I had to create a yearbook page for my daughter from scratch!!!

Thankfully, I was able to finish one. The only challenge was to create it in black and white because the yearbook is. For the past year, I scrapped and just desaturated the page. But for this year, I actually used black, white and gray elements and papers.

I didn’t know I can scrap in less than two hours!

So my only problem now is if I can print this in good resolution later before my daughter leaves for school. ;)

rescrapped: are we there yet?

Another old layout that I had to re-scrap because I can not find the original PSD file to edit a bit. OK, I admit I no longer like my old scrapping style. :P

Journaling:
Today you are going to your cousin’s party. You got excited from the moment you saw me preparing your clothes. You were jumping up and down until we stopped. You looked at me, I just told you the car needs gas. You didn’t know what that meant but you just knew it’ll be ok so you went jumping up and down again.

Three more layouts to be included in my Mikee@1 album.

Since your birthday falls on a weekday, we opted to hold your first birthday party on the following Saturday. Still, that doesn’t stop us to have a little party at home on your exact birthday.

re-scrapped: Catch Me

I am lucky to find the PDF files for two old layouts that I want to include into my “Mikee @ 1″ album. But for others like this one here, I have no choice but to re-scrap. Don’t get me wrong. I had fun re-scrapping it, it’s just that the time spent for the new layout could have been spent on another/new layout. As you may have observed, it is only once in a blue moon that I have the time to scrap. ;)

Sharing the new version:

re-scrapped: Trick or Treat 2007

As you now know, I’ve been scrapping old photos based on old blog entries. I’m trying to finish “Mikee @ 1″ photobook. I know I’m running out of time (my artscow promo codes will expire mid March) so I plan to print some old layouts done. One of which is Mikee’s first trick-or-treat experience.

I saw this on my other blog but sadly, I couldn’t find the original sized layout, and even the PSD. :(

Credits for this first layout can be found here.

So I had to re-scrap the photos. Hmm, good thing that I did.
